Skills North West is a two day event taking place on Tuesday 28 and Wednesday 29 February 2012. Over 9,000 visitors are expected to come along.

Skills North West is all about inspiring the region's youth about their future careers and opportunities. The events attract thousands of young people from schools, colleges, community groups and with their friends and families. At the events they can try different activities that give them a taste of the skills and challenges they will meet in a range of careers.

These activities are showcased by employers, colleges, training providers and other organisations. Activities might include wheel change challenges with students studying auto repair, pancake flipping with a hotel and hospitality team, changing a nappy with childcare trainers, building a slate roof with construction lecturers, restyling a hairdo with hairdressing academies, pedalling a dynamo to light a bulb with energy providers, fitness training with personal trainers and lots more.

The message is getting involved to get inspired.

Learning is through experience, so visitors get to touch, taste, feel, smell, hear and most importantly try new activities and meet staff face to face, things a website, leaflet or prospectus can never do.

The events are open to anyone aged 15-24, whatever their ambitions or abilities. The events showcase the range of opportunities available to young people including apprenticeships, education, training, employment, internships and other options.

Opening Times

Tuesday 28 February 9.30am - 3pm & 5pm - 7pm

The evening opening on Tuesday 28 February is aimed at families, so parents can visit with their teens, and ask the questions their children are to shy to ask.
